To get Suno stems for mixing, open the song's More Actions (…) menu, choose Get Stems, pick a split type and extract, then download everything as WAV. Send your engineer those stems, the full AI version as a premix, and a reference song.
“I take Suno, AI and stem projects and I perfect them, make them real, humanize them.”— Luis Canción
01 / WHY STEMSWhy do you need stems to mix a Suno song?
A Suno song comes out as one finished stereo file, so you can’t turn up the vocal or clean the low end without touching everything else. Stems split it into parts I can work on one at a time.
For the bigger picture, see how to make a Suno song sound professional.
02 / GET STEMSHow do you get stems out of Suno?
Open More Actions (…) → Get Stems → choose a split type → Extract. Per Suno, Get Stems is available to Pro and Premier subscribers.
From your Workspace or Library
- Open the song’s More Actions (…) menu.
- Choose Get Stems.
- Pick a split type.
- Select Extract.
From Suno Studio
- Right-click an audio clip on the timeline.
- Choose Split Stems.
- Pick a split type.
- Select Extract.
| Split type | What it does | Plan (per Suno) |
|---|---|---|
| Auto Split | separates a song into up to 12 stems | Pro and Premier |
| Split from Mix | pulls out one instrument or vocal, plus a complement track | Pro and Premier |
| Advanced Split | you choose which stems to separate from a list of nearly 100 instruments | Premier only |
For a full mix, Auto Split or a Studio multitrack export is usually where I'd start. Suno's options change, so check the linked page.

03 / WAV OR MP3Should you download WAV or MP3?
WAV, every time. Per Suno, WAV is available to Pro and Premier on suno.com; mobile downloads default to MP3, and MP3 is available on all plans.
An MP3 throws away detail I'd rather have. If all you have is MP3, send it and tell me.
Suno says plans have download limits since September 2026, and a song plus its stems counts as one download.

04 / STUDIOHow do you export a multitrack from Suno Studio?
Open the Export dropdown at the top right, above the timeline, and choose Multitrack to export every track as stems for mixing. Suno says all Studio audio exports are WAV.
- Full Song: the complete mix; send it as your premix.
- Selected Time Range: only what you’ve selected; useful for a test-mix clip.
- Multitrack: every track as a stem; send these.
- Single clips: right-click → Download .WAV.

05 / BEFORE YOU SENDWhat should you check before sending Suno stems?
Check alignment, listen for artifacts, and confirm you’ve exported the exact version you want mixed.
- Every stem is full length from the same start point. Drop them in a session at 0:00 and check that they line up.
- Solo each stem. Stem separation can leave artifacts; tell me where you hear them.
- Name each file what it actually is: “Lead Vocal.wav,” not “Stem 3.”
- No extra processing. Don’t normalize or add effects on export.
- The song you want. Confirm the exact version if you made several.
Keep the free file-prep guide beside you while you check.
06 / WHAT TO SENDWhat should you send a mix engineer?
Send the stems, the AI version as your premix and a reference.
- All stems as WAV.
- The full AI version as your premix.
- 1–3 reference songs with a note on what you like.
- Notes: parts to re-record, artifacts you hear, what to keep.
- BPM and key if you know them.
- Lyrics if the vocal is hard to understand.
Tell me if you want any part replaced with a live player; Live/Gospel production is in the Project Builder. For the full handoff, see how to prepare tracks for mixing.
07 / RIGHTSCan you release a song made with Suno?
Suno says songs made while subscribed to Pro or Premier are granted commercial use rights and can go to Spotify, Apple Music and others through your distributor. It says free-plan songs are non-commercial, can’t be monetized, and subscribing later doesn’t grant a retroactive license.
Suno also says you must be the exclusive rights holder of 100% of the material—for example, not someone else’s lyrics.
Suno updated its Terms of Service in September 2026, and your distributor has its own rules. Read both. This isn't legal advice.
See the rights section for more context.
