How to Make a Suno Song Sound Professional: What an Engineer Can (and Can't) Fix
AS FEATURED INAudezeSoundBetterVoyage MIAShoutout Miami
THE QUICK ANSWER
To make a Suno song sound professional, export the stems instead of the stereo file, get a real mix and master on them, and replace any part that still sounds synthetic. Then check your plan's rights before you release it.
“I take Suno, AI and stem projects and I perfect them, make them real, humanize them.”
Luis Canción
Here's what a mix can fix, when to re-record a part, what to send me and what to check before release.
01 / THE PROBLEMWhy does a Suno song sound "AI"?
The song arrives as one finished stereo file where every part was generated together. You can't turn the vocal up, clean the low end or add space to one part without touching everything else.
That's why stems matter. They give the engineer separate parts to work on instead of asking every change to work across the whole song.
02 / GET THE STEMSHow do you get stems out of Suno?
Open the song's More Actions (…) menu and choose Get Stems. Suno's Help Center gives this sequence:
- More Actions (…): Open the menu next to your song.
- Get Stems: Select the stem tool.
- Split type: Choose how to separate the parts.
- Extract: Run the split.
Auto Split separates into up to 12 stems; Get Stems is available on Pro and Premier. In Suno Studio, Export → Multitrack exports all tracks as WAV stems for mixing.

03 / WHAT A MIX FIXESWhat can a mix engineer actually fix in a Suno song?
Balance, tone, dynamics and space, one part at a time. Working from stems lets me shape the vocal and low end separately, then bring those parts together in the mix.
| Part of the song | Fix in the mix | Better replaced | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lead vocal tone and level | yes: EQ, compression, de-essing, space | if it still sounds synthetic after the mix: a real singer | the part listeners judge first |
| Low end (kick and bass) | yes: balance and EQ on the stems | rarely | needs stems; hard to fix in a stereo file |
| Space and depth | yes: reverb, delay, stereo placement | no | |
| Key instrument parts | sometimes | a live player, if the part is featured | production is priced in the Builder |
| Separation artifacts | can soften some | not always fixable | depends on the stems |
| The song itself (lyrics, melody, structure) | no | rewrite or produce | not a mix job |
Stem separation can leave artifacts. A mix can soften some of them, but not every one; what can be improved depends on the stems.
The song itself is a separate question. Changing lyrics, melody or structure is rewriting or production, rather than a mix fix.
04 / REPLACE OR KEEPWhen should you re-record parts instead?
When a part is the thing people hear first, usually the lead vocal, and it still sounds synthetic after the mix. That's the point to consider replacing it instead of continuing to repair it.
- Re-sing the lead: A real singer can replace the AI vocal.
- Replace a featured part: A live player can take over a key instrument.
- Keep the AI part: Re-recording isn't required when you like what's there.
Production, vocal recording and live musicians are priced in the Project Builder. Decide what needs replacing before adding those parts to the project.
05 / RIGHTSCan you release a Suno song on Spotify?
Suno says songs made while subscribed to Pro or Premier come with commercial use rights and can go to Spotify and Apple Music through your distributor. Free-plan songs are non-commercial, and starting a subscription later doesn't make those rights retroactive.
Your distributor has its own rules too. This isn't legal advice.

06 / HONEST FITDo you even need an engineer?
You might not need me. If it's a song for your friends, your church small group or your own playlist, keep it as is or try your own mix.
Pay for a mix when you're releasing it and putting money behind it.
07 / LISTENHow can you hear the difference on your song?
A $100 test mix on a short clip lets you hear what a real mix does to your song before booking the full mix. It's a way to decide what to keep and what may need replacing.
08 / WHAT TO SENDWhat should you send me?
Send the stems, the AI version as your premix and a reference. The AI version shows me where you're going; the separate stems are what I mix.
- Stems: Send the separate parts as WAV files.
- Your premix: Include the AI version of the song.
- A reference: Send a song that shows the direction you want.
It's priced like any mix, by the number of tracks you send. Count the stem files, tell me they're Suno stems, and the Builder shows your price.
You can price your song and review the mix & master packages before you pay. Turnaround is 5–7 business days after payment and complete files.

09 / QUICK ANSWERSWhat else should you know about mixing a Suno song?
Send WAV stems, keep the AI version as your premix, and check your release rights. These are the quick answers on mixing, vocals and cost.
Can a mixing engineer make a Suno song sound professional?
Yes, that's the biggest step. Working from the stems, a mix engineer balances and shapes each part, then masters it for release.
How do I get stems from Suno?
Open the song's More Actions (…) menu, choose Get Stems, pick a split type and extract. Suno lists Get Stems for Pro and Premier subscribers; Studio users can export a Multitrack as WAV files.
Should I send the MP3 or the stems?
Send the stems as WAV files, plus the AI version as your premix. The stereo file shows me where you're going; the stems are what I mix.
Do I need to replace the AI vocal?
Not always. If the vocal still sounds synthetic after a real mix, a re-sung lead is usually the biggest upgrade, and a test mix on a short clip tells you before you spend more.
Can I release a Suno song on Spotify?
Suno says songs made while subscribed to Pro or Premier get commercial use rights and can be distributed; free-plan songs can't be monetized. Check your distributor's rules too; this isn't legal advice.
How much does it cost to mix a Suno song?
It's priced like any mix, by track count: $299 up to 15 tracks, $549 up to 30, $699 up to 80, mastering included. A $100 test mix on a short clip is a good first step.
Is mastering enough for a Suno song?
Mastering works on the whole stereo song, so it can't fix one part. stem mastering ($200, up to 4 stems) gives a little more control, but most of the change happens in the mix.
