01 / THE MARKETWhat does mastering cost in 2026 (market ranges)?

A 2026 guide from Stitos Mastering puts stereo mastering at about €30–80 a song and stem mastering at about €60–150. These are its industry reference ranges, not my prices or the studio's own rates.

The source is a Spain-based studio quoting euros. Keep that currency and context in mind when comparing it with my dollar prices below.

For standard mastering, the instrumental is a separate mix you supply, and it receives its own master. The stem option starts with grouped parts; choose the service that matches the files you have.

You'll find both options on my mastering service page.

03 / STANDARD OR STEMStandard vs stem mastering: which one do you need?

Choose standard if your mix is finished and balanced the way you want. Choose stem if you want a bit more control over how the vocal, drums, bass and music sit, or you only have grouped stems.

The difference is what I can reach. A stereo file puts the whole song together; grouped stems leave those broad parts separate.

If your mix has bigger problems than balance between those four groups, stem mastering won't solve them. That's a mix: look at the mix & master packages instead.

04 / WHAT MOVES THE PRICEWhat changes the price of mastering?

The service, number of songs, versions and person doing the work shape the price. Compare what you're sending and receiving before comparing the number.

  • Stereo or stems: Standard works on a finished stereo mix. Stems leave a little more room to adjust the balance between groups.
  • Number of songs: Each one is priced on its own. Count the songs you want mastered, then apply the service price to each.
  • Extra versions: Check what the quote covers. My standard master already includes an instrumental master when you supply the matching instrumental mix.
  • Who's doing it: An automated service, an independent engineer and a name engineer are different routes. Check the work and the scope alongside the price.

05 / DO YOU NEED ITDo you need to pay for mastering separately?

If I'm mixing your song, mastering is already in every tier, so don't buy it twice. If someone else mixed it and you love it, $124 gets it release-ready.

And if you don't love the mix yet, mastering isn't the fix. You might not need me at this stage; the useful next step may be going back to the mix.

Streaming is part of that finishing context: Spotify explains how it balances playback levels in its loudness normalization guidance (read Oct 31 2026).

06 / AI OR A PERSONWhat about AI mastering?

Automated mastering sits at the low end of the market range and has its place for demos and quick uploads (Stitos, read Oct 31 2026). The full comparison is a separate topic; here, the choice is whether your finished mix needs standard or stem mastering.

08 / EP AND ALBUMHow much does it cost to master an EP or album?

Each song is priced on its own. Five songs with standard mastering is 5 × $124 = $620.

The same per-song approach applies to an album. Work out which songs need standard mastering and which need stems, then add their individual prices.

09 / WHAT TO SENDWhat do you need to send for mastering?

Send your finished mixes or grouped stems, plus references, notes and your checkout email. The files depend on the service you chose.

  • Standard: Your final main mix and a matching instrumental mix. Supply the instrumental separately so it can receive its own master.
  • Stem: Up to four files grouped as vocals, drums, bass, and all melody instruments together, exported from the same start point, song title in the file names.
  • Both: Reference songs, notes, and the email you used at checkout. Include a private download link for your files.

Keep that link available until the studio confirms receipt. Payment and complete files are what start the turnaround window.
